Sedation Dentistry

For many patients, the thought of dental or periodontal treatment conjures deep seated fears and anxiety. This is normal, particularly if you had a bad experience in the dental treatment setting as a child. We want to provide your care in the least anxious and fearful manner possible.

Dr. Manhart has several options to help deal with these concerns so that you can get the care you need. Conscious Sedation in the periodontal setting is widely used and is very safe.

  • For routine visits such as periodic cleanings, oral sedatives such as Triazolam or Valium coupled with Nitrous Oxide can be used.
  • For more involved treatment, many patients elect for intravenous conscious sedation. In this technique drugs similar to those used for oral sedation are supplied through vein usually in your arm. When supplied in this manner the drug effect is faster, deeper and more predicable.

For your safety, whenever you are using sedation in our office you will be monitored for breathing, heart rate, and blood pressure.

Dr Manhart and his staff are trained in Advance Cardiac Life Support as required by the State of Montana. Further, Dr Manhart’s staff consists of individuals trained and experienced in Emergency medicine and Drug therapy.
